Karsh - Portraits of Greatness

A large book, 9 X 12, it has more than 90 full page Black and White photographs by portrait photographer Yousuf Karsh. The photographs are all persons of fame and distinction from various fields. Literary figures include Georges Enesco, Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, Thomas Mann, Somerset Maugham. Artists include Picasso, Norman Rockwell, Jean Cocteau. Scientists such as Niels Bohr, Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell and statesmen such as Churchill, Dag Hammarskjold, as well as Popes, composers, architects, actors, musicians are here also. The portraits are accompanied by Karsh's commentary on the unique experience of taking each portrait.

The book was published by Thomas Nelson And Sons Ltd, New York, in 1960. It is a hard cover book in good condition without a dust jacket. It is a 2nd Edition and has black boards with silver and black lettering. There is some fraying on corners of spine and slight separations along the length of the spine. The block is clean and tight.
